7 Billion Year Old Stardust On Earth.

Recently inside of a meteorite was 7 billion year old stardust on Earth. Can you imagine, searching and finding fragments of the mythical material? Seeing this raw formation of stardust really changed the world.

“This is one of the most exciting studies I’ve worked on” – Philipp Heck

How Did They Get 7 Billion-Year-Old Stardust On Earth.

Stardust was different from the meteorite and the substance had to be extracted by acid! They ground down fragments and then used the acidic solution until only the grains remain.

“It’s like burning down the haystack to find the needle” – Philipp

The process fulfilled by the Field Museum was successful and the team had collected stardust. Discovered and written by humans for what seems like the first time in history. Who knows if humans in the past have used this stuff and what it could be used for!

“They’re solid samples of stars, real stardust” – Heck

What Do We Do With Stardust?

As the years follow up, we will find out all the uses and properties of stardust but for now, it is cool to know that we can collect something that seems like a mythical substance.

We think our home page used stardust to look so good and that’s a personal opinion.
