Ostriches are the world’s largest bird. Seemingly false, this bird outsizes all birds. Though some existed that are now extinct. These large birds, not only run Africa, but the world.

Ostriches are huge, flightless birds with long legs and protruding long neck on their round body. Males have powerful black-and-white colors, which they use to attract women.

According to the African Wildlife Foundation, they can grow up to 2.7 meters (9 feet) tall and weigh as much as 320 lbs (145 kilograms). The eyes of an ostrich are 2 inches (5 centimeters) in diameter— the largest of any land animal.

The American Ostrich Group says the ostrich is the only bird that has two toes at each foot, all other birds have three or four toes.

Wild ostriches live in Africa’s warm, hot savannas and woodlands. They have been breed and placed all around the United States, Mexico, Canada, and almost every other country. So if the world were to end, ostriches would populate nearly every continent.

They once roamed across Asia and the Arab Peninsula, but since they were so heavily hunted, the range of wild ostriches has been limited to sub-Saharan Africa, according to the Michigan University Zoology Museum.

The San Diego Zoo said, they prefer plants, roots, seeds, and leaves. Ostriches don’t have to consume water; they get all they need from the plants that they munch on. They still will drink water if they come across some.
